Welcome

- [Instructor] Welcome to this AutoCAD course where we're preparing AutoCAD drawings to go into Autodesk Revit. What you can see in front of you is a typical AutoCAD floor plan. And as you can see, it's a 2D flat floor plan with some grids, dimensions, walls, doors, windows, stairs, et cetera. What we're going to do throughout this course is show you how to make your AutoCAD drawings or CAD files ready to go into Revit Architecture. And the whole idea is that we can then develop a 3D model for use with things like BIM, Building Information Modeling, from our 2D drawings. Now, there is a workflow and a process to this, and that's what I'm going to try and teach you as we work through this course. Now, the workflow can sometimes differ from what I teach, obviously depending on industry standards and also company standards as well. So, it's more of a guide rather than a fixed rule how you would actually bring your 2D CAD files into your Revit Architecture. But the whole idea of this course is to give you a good general overview of how that works so that you're prepared and, more importantly, your drawings are prepared for you to take them into Autodesk Revit Architecture.
