Join Scott Onstott for an in-depth discussion in this video Using solid editing techniques, part of AutoCAD: 3D Surface Model Design (2014).
- The next order of business…is to create the disk brake rotor.…Type "LAYISO" to isolate this layer,…and then orbit around.…And I'm going to "COPY" this planned drawing over 500 units,…so that it matches up with the section drawing below.…Right now this is on layer "DiskBrakes".…Let's make a new layer…called "3D-Disks".…I'll make that cyan,…and set it current.…
Then type "LAYC", "Enter" for layer current.…Select all of that and move it to the current layer.…These objects didn't seem to change layer,…because the layer is assigned inside of this Polar Array.…So let's "EXPLODE" the Polar Array,…and then get these objects, which are splines,…just grip-select them, and then type "LAYC", "Enter".…So now everything's on the right layer.…
I'm going to draw a line, cross this gap,…and then move all of this information,…I'm gonna have to orbit to select,…and move it all from the center,…right down here, so it's in the right place.…Let's see how high this is supposed to be.…Distance from here to here is "3".…Let's turn off this layer, "LAYOFF".…
