Using a proprietary title block

- [Voiceover] We're now in the next chapter of our AutoCAD Facilities Management 103 Occupancy course. What we're gonna look at now, as I mentioned in previous videos, is setting up a facilities drawing correctly. Now, what you would normally do when you're setting up a facilities drawing correctly, is first of all, use a proprietary title block. The benefit you have in this 00 Ground FM Setup dot dwg file is there is already a proprietary title block that we're going to set up with a page setup in our 00 Ground Layout tab already in our setup drawing. Now the drawings you need are in your Lynda.com exercise files, so download them accordingly. There will be two drawings available to you. The FM drawing here, and the GA drawing with a similar naming structure. Just open up the FM drawing for now, as you can see on the screen. We're gonna look at using a proprietary title block first. So, we're gonna go to our 00 Ground layout tab, like so, and then we're gonna insert the block, an AutoCAD block of the title block itself. Now it's all preloaded, you don't need to worry, but do make sure you go to your Layers panel, and go here to your Layer pulldown and make sure you're using the right layer, which is this A-ANNO-TITLEBLOCK layer. So make sure that's the current layer, and then you put your titleblock on the right layer. Layer management is very important in Facilities Management. So, what we need to do is insert our blocks. So we go to Insert up here on the ribbon, go up here to the Block panel, click on the Insert Block command here, and there's our ISO A-1 Landscape Title, so I'm just gonna click there like so, and it comes in on the corner there. Can you see, on my crosshair? Now I'm gonna specify an insertion point of zero comma zero, so if you just type that, there's the coordinates on the screen, hit the Enter key and it drops it in like so. Now if I just zoom out a tad, you can see that's kind of centralized on a much smaller white sheet. Now the reason it's done that is the sheet itself is too small. So I'm just gonna come down to the 00 Ground Layout tab, and what I'm gonna do is go into Page Setup Manager, and I'm gonna click on New, and I want a New Page Setup, which is going to be ISO A-1, like so, dash Landscape, and what we'll do is just put something like Metric there as well, so it will let people know it's metric. So it's an ISO A1-Landscape Metric. Now, you might not want to put the metric in there, it's up to you, you might want to actually put the sheet type that it's going to, which might be a PDF, you might output to a PDF. It's entirely up to you what you put in there. I'm gonna put PDF, because in the Page Setup I'm gonna set it all up for PDF. So I click on OK, takes me into the Page Setup dialogue box. You can see DWG to PDF is there. I can pick from many different printer/plotter names there, but I just wanna go to PDF right now. And I can set the PDF options in there if I want to, things like dpi, and so on. Now the paper size is ISO A1, so I'm gonna come up the list here, and you can see there, there's ISO A1 841 by 594, right there. Now, there is an expand version, which basically means that the boundaries at the edge of the sheet of paper are smaller. I'm just gonna go for ISO A1. If I need to change it later, I can. Now you'll see there it says What to Plot, Extents. I'm gonna put a scale of 1:1, because the title block is A1 and also the sheet needs to be A1. And I've put Center the Plot, so I'm gonna center the sheet and the title block together, so they're gonna sit on their centers, respective centers. Plot Style Table, you might set that, for example, to something like Monochrome, perhaps, just black and white, or you might set it to acad.ctb for colors. And those represent the colors that you've got in your AutoCAD Facilities Management drawing. So make sure that your drawing orientation is set to Landscape, click on OK, and there it is there. There's out Page Setup. Nothing's changed in the background, though. That's because we need to apply the Page Setup to the Layout tab. Our current Layout tab is 00 Ground, which is right here, and you can see that any layout tab is represented by the asterisks, and you can see that at the moment, the Page Setup is 841x594, whereas the Layout tab is set to 297x210, which is an ISO A4, a much smaller sheet size. So if I select that ISO A1, double click on it, it applies it to my current layout tab, my 00 Ground, and when I close now, you can see that the sheet is much bigger, the white sheet is much bigger, it's now 841x594 millimeters to fit the proprietary title block, which is also 841x594. So you've now set up your proprietary title block in your 00 Ground FM Setup drawing. Now, you've downloaded that from the Lynda.com exercise files locally, so save it now in preparation to follow along with the next video.
