- [Voiceover] In order to be able to work through this AutoCAD 2017 Essentials course, you need a good background working knowledge of Microsoft Windows. AutoCAD 2017 is based on Microsoft Windows as an operating system. There is a version of AutoCAD available for Mac, but that's a totally separate course to this one. So we will be using Microsoft Windows for this particular course. So you do need to know how Windows works, as well as having a background in engineering, architecture, and so on, so that you understand the methodologies and concepts that are shown as we work through the exercises in the videos. Also, be aware that this is AutoCAD 2017 Essentials. We are using the latest version of AutoCAD, AutoCAD 2017. So all of the files and videos are based around that particular version of AutoCAD. So make sure you've got it installed before you start the course.
