- [Instructor] Once again we're staying in our LayerStandards.dwg file. What I'm gonna talk about now, is the ByLayer setting in AutoCAD. When you create a drawing, and you might create a drawing from scratch rather than use something exported out of Revit like I am. I'm using this exported drawing out of Revit purely for ease of use. It's given me all of my BS1192 layers that I need for this course to explain the layer philosophy to you. Now, what we've got here is a drawing, its got its layers, its got all its linetypes, its colors, and so on. But you wanna make sure that every object on the drawing is using the ByLayer setting and adopting the properties of the layer that is actually on in the drawing. Now I did mention this when we worked with the grid lines earlier in the chapter so all of these grid lines have adopted that ByLayer setting.
