Use 3-phase components

- [Instructor] Once again, we're staying in our DEMO11.dwg file in our WDDEMO project, and we're looking at our multiple bus wiring and multi-phase wiring, three-phase wiring, and so on. Now, we've placed wires and ladders so far. What we need to look at now is placing three-phase components. How do we do that? Well, let's just roll back on the wheel a few notches. We've got our two three-phase ladders with the multiple buses coming off of them going horizontally to the right. Zoom in on this one here, the ladder that we placed, and the multiple bus wiring. So we're going to zoom in, and as you can see, it's the one that starts at 1150. And you want to make sure that it's kind of to the left like that. You want to be at the end of this multiple bus wiring here. We're then going to go to the Schematic tab on the ribbon, and we're going to go to the Icon Menu in the Insert Components panel. So make sure it's Icon Menu from the flyout there. And what we're going to do, we're just going to place a three-phase motor on the end of those three wires. So we go to Motor Control here, and what we've got is some motors here that are available to us. Now you'll notice you've got a 1 Phase Motor, but you've also got over here 3 Phase Motor. So select it like so, and then it says specify insertion point. Now I'm going to place it deliberately on the end there, on this wire. So if I click there like that, what will happen now is I get Insert/Edit Component. Now I'm not going to edit anything at all. It gives me MOT1152. Motor on 1152, on the three-phase ladder. So I'm just going to OK that, and as if by magic, it tidies everything up for me. How lovely is that? That's what I love about AutoCAD Electrical. All these blocks know to tidy up in the AutoCAD Electrical drawing. Now we might need some fuses there that drop into those three wires as well. So we go back to the Icon Menu, and this time in the Icon Menu I'm going to look for fuses. So we've got fuses and circuit breakers and so on here. So when I click on this here, you'll notice we've also got a 3 Pole Fuse with Tags. So if I click on that there like so, it will now prompt me for the insertion point of the first fuse. So let's pop that say there, and as soon as I click on that wire there, it prompts me now do I want to build the three phase fuse up or down? Well because that was the uppermost wire I want to go down from it. So I click on Down, and it works out where the wires are. It allows me to do the Insert/Edit Component. I click on OK, and as you can see it updates FU1151. There's the 1151. But it also puts the dashed lines in to link those three fuses together just like we did on the previous ladder over here with the multi-phase multiple bus wiring here. So you can see how quick and easy it is to utilize three-phase wiring and multi-phase wiring in AutoCAD Electrical as well. And that's how quick and easy it is to add those three-phase components.
