- [Instructor] Now let's work on the roof that goes around here and wraps around these walls. We need to start by cutting the walls back appropriately. And if you look at this section over here you'll see that the roofs slope down from the exterior of the building and they slope down into the courtyard all the way around. And I'd just like to make a couple of measurements here. I'll use the distance command, di, and measure the distance from the top of the wall here to the base of the wall and let's make a mental note that that's 27 foot six. Also, over here on the interior part of the wall I'm going to measure the distance from, let's say right here, top of the interior courtyard wall to the base of the wall is 20 feet. Okay, so let's keep that in mind over here and I'm going to switch the visual style to wire frame so that I can see through everything. And then I'll isolate a couple of layers. Layiso. I'll click on the second floor walls and the first floor walls, enter. And then, let's set the current layer to layer zero, turn that on, and set it as the current layer because I'm going to sketch in wire frame the roof slopes and I'll just use this temporary layer zero for that purpose. I'll start by drawing a line from the inner edge of this courtyard wall straight up 20 feet. And then I'm going to orbit around and draw another line up from the base of the exterior up to the height of 27 foot six, enter. And then I'm going to connect the dots by clicking over here. So now we have, at least in wire frame, a representation of that roof slope. I'd like to carry this over to the other side so I'll draw another line from here over. I'll orbit around and have it go all the way perpendicular to this exterior corner. And then I'll do the same thing over here, I'll carry this line over and I want to snap that to the interior edge there and then connect the dots. So now we have a representation of that roof slope. Let's continue on over here, I'll draw a line from this endpoint over. And this building kind of jogs backwards so I'm not going to be able to snap it over here. Instead I'm just going to click a point out here in the middle of free space over the train and then I'll draw another line from this interior courtyard position, over and I want that line to go over just as far as the other one does in this direction, in the green direction. So I'm going to employ a point filter to assist me. In this case I want its x and z coordinates to remain the same, so I'll type point xz, enter and then I'll type @ enter, to specify the same point. Now the command line says need y and I'll click on the end of this line and then click there again to draw a new line connecting the dots. So now we have another roof slope defined. We need to do something similar over here in this last part of the building. So I'll draw a line from this inner courtyard connection over and again I want to use a point filter, I'll type point xz in this case, enter @ enter. Now it says need y and I'll click the corner of the building right here to specify that. Draw another line from this point over. Again use a point filter. Point xz, enter @, enter and click on this corner again. Connect the dots to the end of that white line. So now we have all three roof planes represented in wire frame.
