Similarities in the user interfaces
- Autodesk Inventor works differently than AutoCAD but there are some similarities in the user interface that can help you feel more at home. Let's take a look at a few of them. When you take a look at the overall interface, of course Autodesk Inventor has the ribbon layout with tabs and panels very much like AutoCAD does. You'll see some differences as you use Inventor but in general you know where to look for many of the tools. If you've been using AutoCAD as a 3D tool, you'll recognize the view cube. The view cube in Inventor will allow you to select a face, an edge, or a corner of the cube and orbit the part that way. You can also click and drag the view cube to actively and dynamically orbit. In Inventor the view cube is enhanced with a home view that you can change based on your perspective by simply selecting a view you prefer, telling it that you want that as the home view.
