Using the SOLIDEDIT command, you can shell the tower to remove its interior volume based on the tower wall thickness. You remove the floor of this shell to see into its interior volume.
- [Instructor] At this stage, the tower roof…is a giant solid object.…It looks good from the outside…but it's not realistic on the inside.…Let's correct that.…I'd like to learn how thick the tower walls are…so I'm going to select this object…and hide it temporarily…and then zoom in here on the tower walls…and measure the distance using the di command…across the walls.…Looks like it's one foot 7 1/2.…
Let's reveal the object again by ending Object Isolation.…And then I'd like to Shell the object.…I'll do so my selecting it and pressing enter…and then it will prompt me…to enter the Shell offset distance,…that's one foot, seven dash, one forward slash two, enter.…Then I'll press enter a couple of times…to accept the defaults and it looks the same.…However, when I go into Wire frame and orbit around,…you'll see this object now has an interior.…
However, that also has a floor on it.…So let's isolate this object…and work on it.…I'll go back into Shaded with edges mode…and I'm going to orbit underneath.…I'd like to cut that floor out of the object…
