Setting up the project
- Before we get started, let's take a look at our settings and preferences in AutoCAD to make sure that your settings match mine. Let's begin by starting a new File. From the Home screen, here, we can choose from the templates. And I want to go with the acad.dwt drawing template. Now, down on the status bar, here, let's make sure that the settings are all correct. I have my grid on. I like to work with polar tracking. And make sure that yours is set to 15 degrees snapping increments. For OSNAPs, I want to make sure that Endpoint, Midpoint, Center, Quadrant, Intersection and Extension are all turned on. Here, I'm going to turn off the Dynamic UCS to get us started. If this icon isn't present in your status bar, you can find it by going to the end, here, and checking Dynamic UCS. This also has a Command Line system variable. It's UCSDETECT. You want to make sure that it's set to zero. Make sure that you're in the Drafting & Annotation workspace.
