Sculpt solids from regions and surfaces

- [Instructor] We need to roof this building over here, and the job should be relatively straightforward. We just need to trace over the roof, and I have the roof layer current, so I can just start drawing lines. I'll draw lines across here, and snap them in 3D to all of these points around the perimeter of the wall. And then type c for close, and then I'd like to isolate that layer, so I'll type lay iso, select that, I'll make a crossing window that includes the walls and that layer, and then I'll turn off walls, revealing that layer. And then turn it into a region, copy the region up a foot, loft, the surface between the two regions. Make sure that the tangency is ruled, it looks like it is in this case. Sculpt those surfaces together, these surfaces defined a watertight volume. And now once we use the surf sculpt command, we should be left with a 3D solid object, and you can turn all the layers on and examine the results.
