Reusing layouts - AutoCAD Tutorial

Reusing layouts
One of the best parts about drawing with a computer is you never have to draw the same thing twice. You can just reuse your geometry. The same concept applies to layouts. Once a layout has been configured you can reuse it print any other drawing. In this lesson we'll print a drawing using a pre-configured layout. On my screen I have some geometry that represents a fire hydrant detail. Now, I've not yet configured a layout to print this geometry. I'd like to print the drawing on an 8.5 by 11 inch sheet with a title block. And rather than creating a new layout from scratch, I'd like to reuse a layout from a previous exercise. To steal a layout from an existing drawing, right-click on any Layout tab and choose From Template, from the menu. By default, AutoCAD will take you to the Template folder where all of the template files are located. In this case, I'd like to see Drawing Files, so I'm going to open Files of Type, and select DWG. I will then navigate into the Exercise Files folder…
