Join Shaun Bryant for an in-depth discussion in this video Registering on the Certiport website, part of Cert Prep: AutoCAD Certified Professional (2015).
- [Instructor] It's always good practice to get registered with Certiport. Get your login all set up before you take your AutoCAD Certified Professional exam or your AutoCAD Certified User exam. So what I've done, I'm staying in my browser, which in the moment is Firefox. You can still see I've got the roadmap here, but I've just opened a new tab that takes me to the Certiport homepage and it's literally certiport.com as you can see there and they're a Pearson Vue business.
Pearson Vue have been doing testing for years and years and years, decades even. Now what we're going to do is just look at how we register. So it's very simple, go over to the little Register button here and hit the button and that'll take you to the page where you can go and register for your Certiport login and identity so to speak. Now I'm not gonna bore you with all of the information here, but you can see that the preferred language obviously in my case would be English because hey, I am English and the country there would obviously be in my case, United Kingdom.
Now you might be United States, you might be Cyprus and so on. Let's scroll all the way down to the bottom, hit the United Kingdom button like that. Now there is a privacy statement. When you're taking an exam with Certiport, you have to basically say, okay, I'm not gonna go and take all these questions and put them out there on Google for everybody to obviously learn how to pass the exam and so on and so forth. So you just tick that little box there. Now you always get this now on a lot of logins for websites. It's to prove that you're not a robot.
So I'll just type that in as well. It is case-sensitive, be aware of that. So if I type in E and then six and then that's four, T, two, three, like so. So I'll type that in and then I just hit Next at the bottom of the dialog box here like that. So that will take me through. Now I'm not gonna go through and do all this and set myself up as a person that's gonna take the exam. I've already got my AutoCAD Certified Professional status. As an Autodesk instructor, I have to have it so that I can work with Autodesk training centers, providing training and consultancy and so on, but what you would do is go through all of the usual stuff.
First name, middle name, last name and that's how your name will appear on your certificate. Be aware of that little bit there. Make sure that when you put your name in, it's exactly how you want it on your certificate because you can't change it afterwards. Obviously, your birth date to prove who you are, your username, your password, and confirming the password. So if I now scroll down. Once you've done that and done your security questions, you then hit Next again. Now I'm just gonna scroll up now and go through the bits in the list on the left. So there's your account setup. You then put in your personal information.
So that would be things like your address, your email address where you want your certificate to go and so on. You then go in and set up your profile. Now when you're setting up your profile, you're specifying which exam you're going to take. So this particular case for this particular set of videos, it would be your AutoCAD Certified Professional exam and you can normally choose whether it's a metric exam or an imperial exam depending on the localization of where you're from. So if you're from the USA, you would more than likely go with imperial.
If you're from the UK, in Europe, you would more than likely go with metric. You then go in and choose a purpose; why you're taking the exam and then there's a summary page. Once you hit Finish and you've worked through all of that, you're then a Certiport registered user. What that means is when you get to your exam, you just put your username and password, pick the exam you're gonna take, start the exam. Rather than have to go through all of this with the nerves that you have before you take your exam in the first place. So it's always a good little bit of practice, just to get registered on Certiport first, maybe a couple of days before you take your exam.
It's a lot easier then you don't have to go through all this rigamarole of typing and account setup and passwords. You know it already and it's all set up. You just log in, username, password, pick your exam and you're done.
