Linking multiple symbols to a single tag
- [Instructor] Occasionally you may find the need to have a component displayed on more than one drawing. Perhaps a detail, or showing an assembly. Since we cannot have two components with the same tag, we have the ability to create two symbols linked to a single tag. Let me show you how that works. Let's open our drawing, 09_03, and take a look at these exchanges that we have. If for example we wanted to show this exchanger elsewhere in our P&ID, perhaps in a cooling water loop, we can show that on a different sheet. But we don't want to have that duplicate tag, so here's what we do. Let's open up another drawing, and I'm going to create a duplicate copy of that exchanger on this drawing. To do that, I'm going to go down and grab the exchanger, and when we get our Assign Tag dialog box, I'm going to go look at our Existing Heat Exchanger list, and I can see that we have two already existing in P&ID 09_03, so we have 03 and 04.
