The Inventor project file
- In AutoCAD you have the option of using data external to the DWG file you're editing by using XREFs. In Inventor, when working with assemblies or drawings, you have to link to external files to create the geometry you need or get the drawing use that you need. Inventor needs to know where these files are stored. To do that, Inventor uses a project file. A project file is simply a hybrid text file that lets Inventor know where those searches are. For example, if I look at the project file that I am currently using, which is associated with the exercises for this course, it shows me multiple elements that I can modify if I want to. In most case I don't need to change the appearance libraries or material libraries, or even change what the workspace is. Sometimes I might like to have a shortcut, for example I can selected frequently used sub-folders, I can tell it that I'd like to add a shortcut path, a shortcut to the migrating to Inventor files, And all I have to do is select, or…
