History of sharing data within Civil 3D

- [Josh] When Autodesk came out with a preview release of Civil 3D, there was not a way to share data. All the information was stored in one drawing file. Now, Autodesk realized that there needed to be some mechanism to share information. So with the Civil 3D 2006 release, Autodesk introduced us to data shortcuts. Data shortcuts were a means to point the software to the correct file in the data, to share. Now although the means used to share data and what can be shared and the stability of the shared data has evolved, the basic principles have stayed the same for over a decade. Let's look at some of those principles. Some suggested best practices and how data shortcuts are truly a great way to share data.
