Extrude and patch a surface

- [Instructor] Let's model the first object which will ultimately be part of this bicycle. I'll zoom in here on the drive unit down below. So there's a motor in here which assists the pedaling effort, and here we have this belt drive, and we're going to be modeling all of this in due course, but what I'd like to start with is this element right here, which is a bracket that's part of the bicycle frame that attaches the frame to the drive unit. So I'm going to start here. This is on layer Frame, which is the two-dimensional layer. We should have the three-dimensional frame layer as the current layer right now, and that is indeed the case. So now I'm going to go to the Surface tab. I'll leave Surface Associativity on so that the surface that I generate will remain connected to this spline. That way, in the future, if I ever wanted to change the shape of that, I could just alter the spline, and then the dependent surface would automatically update.
