In this video, Irene shows how to export a P&ID drawing to a regular AutoCAD file.
- [Instructor] In the engineering world,…we often have the need to share P&ID drawing files…with other people, be it facility managers,…third-party engineering companies, or contractors.…Some of them may not have access…to the AutoCAD P&ID software,…so we have to convert our P&ID drawings…to regular AutoCAD files for them to open.…Here's how we find the tool to do that.…So let's open a drawing.…We'll open 12_01_P&ID.…Now even though we know this is AutoCAD…and this is a regular dwg file,…if we actually look at the components…that we have here, and check the Properties,…we'll see that this isn't a line, this is an SLINE.…
This is a proprietary shape that we use…in the P&ID program that's not viewed…in regular AutoCAD.…So I'm going to show you what happens…if we send this dwg file as is to…one of our contractors.…So I'm just going to minimize this right for one moment,…and we're looking now in regular AutoCAD.…This isn't P&ID, just standard AutoCAD.…Now we're going to browse out.…We're going to open the same drawing from our Desktop,…
