Explore the AutoCAD Electrical user interface

- [Instructor] We're starting a new chapter now in our AutoCAD Electrical course and we're going to start exploring the AutoCAD Electrical user interface. Now in this particular chapter, you don't have to to go the library to download any projects or any drawings. I'm literally just going to take you through some of the areas in the AutoCAD Electrical screen so that you know where things are and you know exactly what they do. So in this particular video, I'm just going to give you an overview of the AutoCAD Electrical user interface. Now obviously it does resemble the regular AutoCAD user interface, you have the ribbon at the top of the screen. You have the big red A in the top left corner, that is obviously your Application menu, and if you click on it, you'll get your Application menu come up. You've got the Quick Access Toolbar in the top left corner of the screen as well with all of your icons on it. You can see there though that there are some AutoCAD Electrical-specific icons. So you've got here the navigation to move between project drawings and also the Surfer there to surf to different items in your AutoCAD Electrical projects. Also what we've got in the ribbon is we've got some AutoCAD Electrical-specific tabs such as Project, Schematic, Panel, Reports, Import/Export, and also Electromechanical. So there's lots of different tools there and I'll go into those in a bit more detail as we work through this particular chapter. Just make sure you jump back to the Home tab in the ribbon. Now underneath the ribbon, you've got the File tab. So you've got the Start tab just there, and you've also got your drawing tabs as well so your drawing tabs are all available and ready to go. Now, what we've also got is the Project Manager on the left-hand side of the screen, and we've also got down at the bottom of the screen, the command line. And you'll notice in the bottom right corner, we've got the status bar there as well. Now all of this is remarkably similar to regular AutoCAD, but also remarkably different to regular AutoCAD. There are tools and tabs, the Project Manager, and things in AutoCAD Electrical that are very different to regular AutoCAD. And the whole idea of this particular chapter is just to take you through some of those bits and pieces, so that you are aware of the differences and where to find those differences when you're working in AutoCAD Electrical.
