- [Instructor] Once again we're staying in our XREFs.dwg file and you can see that the newly updated property line external reference file is also attached. Now, we're going to look at editing an XREF in place. Now what you've got to remember here, and it's really important, is that nobody has got the XREF file, the property line file, open elsewhere otherwise that file will be locked because people are using it and it's open somewhere else so you need to make sure that the propertyline.dwg file, the one you're using as an XREF is not open in another session of AutoCAD or in your session of AutoCAD. The only file you should have open is the host drawing which is XREFs.dwg. Now editing in place is a really useful feature as long as nobody else is using the XREF.
