- [Instructor] We're starting another chapter now in our AutoCAD Electrical Course. And we're going to move now into the AutoCAD Electrical editing commands. Now, it's really important that you get this into your workflow and your process, because the editing commands in AutoCAD Electrical must be used over and above the regular AutoCAD editing commands. Now there are some regular AutoCAD commands that you can still use. For example, you might want to move a circuit. You can use your regular AutoCAD move for that, but when you're moving components and symbols, and wires and wire numbers, you must use the AutoCAD Electrical editing commands. So we've got a whole new WDDEMO project for you for this particular chapter. So go to the library, download the demo folder, and it's the usual drill. So we go over to the Project Manager. Start a project by clicking on Open Project. And then what we do is we go and look for our WDDEMO.wdp file. So there's the WDDEMO.wdp file, select it. Click on Open. And then you've got your WDDEMO project here. Now, you saw that mine was already there. That's because I'm already prepped up to obviously deliver the videos for you. So, in this particular WDDEMO project, expand the schematic sub folder and you'll see that we've only got drawings one through seven. I'd like you to open up drawing demo04. This one here, so select it, double-click on it, and that'll open it up in the drawing area for you. That's the drawing we're going to use for this particular chapter. And the reason I've done that, is as you can see, lots of nice, little schematic components, wire numbers, et cetera. Now, the first thing that you must get used to when you're editing in AutoCAD is the Marking menu. So I'm just going to zoom in top-left here. Just roll up on the wheel. Maybe pan across a little bit. You got some junction boxes and so on here as you can see. Junction boxes, switches, and so on. You got wire numbers as well. And all of those can be edited using the Marking menu, but you've got to get used to the way that this Marking menu works. It really is a total process change to regular AutoCAD. If you're used to using regular AutoCAD, this is a bit of a sort of like change-around that you're going to get used to. I'm going to go over this one here. RAM 01. Can you see that retracted? And when I hover over it, it highlights. And you hold down the right-hand mouse button, and what'll happen is the Marking menu will appear like so. And then what you do, keeping that right-hand button held down, is you move through the options you have on the Marking menu. And these are context-sensitive, so they do tally up with the component you're working with. So for example, if I wanted to edit the component. Can you see the kind of flashlight kind of goes round. Can you see like shining a torch on each one? If I hover over Edit Component, it goes a pale blue. And you see the flashlight behind it as if you're shining a torch on it. Then you release the right-hand button. And what'll happen is the Edit Component dialogue box will appear. I'll do my edits. Click on OK. Thank you very much. So that is the Marking menu. And we'll be using that a lot in this chapter. So you hover over the component in the drawing. When it highlights, right-click and hold. The Marking menu will appear. Move the mouse to find the particular command you want on the Marking menu and then you release the right-click. So it's all holding down that right-hand mouse button. Make sure you do that with the Marking menu and you won't go far wrong.
