Defining a block

- In this video we'll create a block of our step and ballister. A block is a named group made up of one or more objects. We use blocks for a few reasons. It makes it easy to move groups of objects around together, and when we change one copy of the block, every instance in our drawing will update as well. That makes it really easy to make changes later on. So let's try it. Make sure that you're on the Insert tab on the Ribbon menu, then we'll choose Create Block. I will name this block SingleStep. I could check this to specify the base point on-screen, but in our case I actually know that I wanna use the origin, which is zero, zero, zero. I am going to click this to select the objects. We wanna make sure that we've got all three pieces, the molding, the step, and the ballister. Then I can click Enter, and then choose OK. We've created our block, and now we're ready to duplicate it.
