Cutting a cross-sectional view through the model - AutoCAD Tutorial
From the course: AutoCAD: Documenting 3D Models
Cutting a cross-sectional view through the model
- Let's create a section view of the 3D model. We can do that using any one of the options on this menu. The cutting line can go straight through the model, as in this case, or it can take a partial path through the model, or the section cut can be offset or aligned to specific geometry. You can also draw the section line yourself so you can select it from an object. This gives us the most flexibility and this is the option that we'll choose but first we'll need to draw that object. So, just get out of here and zoom into the base view of the front of this extent. I'd like to see what this extent looks like if we cut right through the central axis of the swing arm. So, we need to draw that axis in using a line. To do that, I'm gonna start by drawing a line across from mid point to mid point and then I will rotate the line from its mid point and rotate it 90 degrees. So, now this line should be oriented parallel to the axis of the swing arm. I now need to lengthen the line. I'll click…
