Controlling layer visibility

- [Instructor] We're staying in the organizing our objects chapter of our AutoCAD Certified Professional preparation course. Now, we've got another new drawing for you now. It's called organizing_layervisibility.dwg. Again, you can download it from the website as one of the exercise files and you can use that exercise file to follow along with this particular video. Now, you'll notice in this particular case in the drawing, everything is on the appropriate layer. So, if I hover over a dimension here, you can see it's on the dims layer. If I hover over the center line, you'll notice it's on the center lines layer. The hidden detail again is on the hidden layer and also the object itself is on the object layer. Now, why do you have layers in your AutoCAD drawings? So that you can clarify the drawing and make it simpler and easier to interpret to work on the design. So, for example, it may be that the dimensions are getting in the way and you need to either freeze them or switch them…
