Connecting models as an assembly

- Very few products are made from a single part. In AutoCAD, you can represent multiple bodies by creating several different solids. In Inventor, of course, we're using multiple parts that we need to bring together. But simply bringing them into the same file isn't enough. What we wanna do is create relationships between these components, so that if sizes of parts change, all of the other parts will move to maintain their proper relationship. To do this, we use constraints. What I'd like to start out doing is moving components into place. I can just simply grab a part, and move it, or I can use the joint tools, or in this case, we'll use the constraint tools to build the relationship. I'll use the insert tool to grab a rounded edge and tell it to maintain a relationship to another rounded edge. We have options for flipping the direction of this, or creating an offset to generate additional space. When I hit OK, that component will now be held in place. I still have some degree of…
