Join Shaun Bryant for an in-depth discussion in this video Autodesk Certified Professional, part of Cert Prep: AutoCAD Certified Professional (2015).
- [Instructor] We're staying in the PDF that we were in in the previous video where we looked at the Autodesk AutoCAD Certified User exam. Now that PDF links through from the web address that I gave you in the first video, so you should still have this PDF open. Obviously if you want to download it and print it off, feel free to do so. Remember you are obviously destroying the rainforest when you do that, so make sure you don't print off too many copies. So let's scroll down here a little bit and have a look now at the Autodesk AutoCAD Certified Professional exam.
Now as I scroll down, you can see that there's the recommended experience levels again that we talked about previously, and if I come down a little bit more, it tells me all about now here the 2015 Certified Professional exam. Now the Certified Professional exam is an actual physical examination that you have to take using AutoCAD as a product. So you'll notice the actual criteria required for the exam is the AutoCAD 2015 course. Now from February 2016, you do not have to worry about which version of AutoCAD you use to learn for the exam or that you use for the exam.
Certiport have now made both the AutoCAD Certified User exam and the Professional exam non-version specific. The reason being is it's all based on knowledge and not which version you should be using. So all of the questions are biased towards what I would call general AutoCAD knowledge rather than new features knowledge in a new version of AutoCAD, for example. So let's talk more about the Professional exam. That is aimed at assessing knowledge of the tools, features, and common tasks in AutoCAD.
So it's more of a how to drive AutoCAD effectively using specific workflows and processes within the questions. So you'll be running a full version of AutoCAD and your questions when you take the exam. Now the exam itself has to be proctored so you have to sit in an examination room where you're not allowed phones, you're not allowed manuals, no, you're not allowed Google either. So you have to use your knowledge to pass the exam. Now these particular videos in this particular AutoCAD Professional Certification prep course are no guarantee that you will pass your exam.
You're studying for your AutoCAD Professional Certification. You're using these videos as a revision tool, a learning tool to gain the knowledge that you need to pass the exam. But I can't pass that exam for you. That's up to you to learn and actually have your 400 hours of hands-on application for the Professional exam. Don't forget as well, Lynda.com provide the AutoCAD 2017 Essential Training as well. Take that course as well as this one.
You will then learn everything you need to know about AutoCAD. So once you've done that in the same way as the Certified User exam, you go and find your Certification Center which is normally your reseller or training center and you go and take your exam. If you're successful, you then get the ability to have your name on the certification database on the Autodesk website, and you can also use your badge and you also get a PDF certificate as well. So that's how the two different versions of the exam differ.
So the User exam is your base level benchmark so that you know how to drive AutoCAD. Your Certified Professional examination, which is the one that this course is biased towards, is the your Professional examination, the one that proves that you're a guru within AutoCAD. You know how to use AutoCAD effectively but you also know all the workflows and the processes to work in a professional environment with AutoCAD itself.
