3D printing with a MakerBot

- In this video, we'll prepare our model for 3D printing. I'll be using the MakerBot Desktop to prepare my files for my MakerBot Replicator 2, but if you've got a different brand of printer, the interfaces are pretty similar, and you can do much the same with your own software interface. I'll choose to add a file, and then you can find our STL files in the Chapter 5 exercises folder. We're gonna start with the house. Choose Open. And you can see that our house is very small, and sometimes you'll even get an error message from MakerBot Desktop that tells you that the house is way too small. Do you wanna size it up? And no you don't, because we need to have really tight control over the scaling. The reason that our file imports so small is that MakerBot Desktop expects our units to be millimeters, and we exported in inches. STL files are not aware of the unit dimension that's associated. They just know that they are six units long, or ten units long, they have no idea if it's…
