- [Narrator] One of the advantages of using a smart design program, is that we have the ability to see whether or not our project is complete by running a check in the database. Before we sign off on our drawings, we can use a validation tool to check for any components that were not connected, terminated, tagged, or annotated. I'm going to go through the steps with you now. So let's open our Chapter 12 project. We're going to navigate to Desktop, Exercise Files, Chapter 12, and Project XML. So let's open our P&ID drawing here, and we also have a Plant 3D model, too. So first, I'm going to open P&ID, and we're going to run a quick validation on this drawing. To run a validation on the P&ID, I'm going to come down to the P&ID drawing, I'm going to right click and I'm going to run validation. So the validation has returned a number of errors, here.
