Placing structural beams

- [Instructor] Now that we have our grid in place, let's take a look at how to place structural beams in our model. This is a three step process that involves first choosing the type of beam you want to place, deciding how we want the beam oriented on our grid, and then placing it in our model. So let's open Drawing 03_03_STRUCT, and there's our grid. So let's make sure that we've followed our rule, and then we go up to our properties, and we want to continue working on our steel layer now, so I'm going to set that to our current layer. Now we're going to come up to Settings, and we're going to choose this structural member that we want. So I'm going to come into the settings here, and I want to come down and choose AISC standards. We're going to keep the material standard and the material code the same. So I want you to choose a W Beam here, and let's choose an eight by 40. We're going to keep our insert points exactly as they are here, and we want it placed by center. So that we…
