- In the engineering world, we often have the need to share P&ID drawing files with other people; be it facility managers, third-party engineering companies, or contractors. Some of them may not have the AutoCAD P&ID software or the Plant 3D software, so we may have to convert our drawings to regular AutoCAD files before they can open them. Here's where we find the tool to do that. Inside Project Manager, we're inside Chapter 12, I'm going to open the P&ID drawing that we have and we're going to take a look at the properties on this line. So, I'm just going to right click and look at properties, and you can see that it's showing an S-line. Now an S-line is not a regular AutoCAD line, it's proprietary, so if you don't have the Plant 3D software installed, you're not going to be able to see this line whatsoever. I'm going to illustrate that by opening this up in regular AutoCAD. So, I'm going to navigate out to look at that P&ID drawing. So, I'm going to say Open, Desktop, Exercise…
