Configure import and export settings

- [Narrator] When you export data from DataManager, we have the ability to control the type and amount of data included in the report. This is controlled easily by creating a set of custom parameters that we use during the export process. These are set up in the project settings, here's how. So let's go into our project manager again, and look at our project setup. Now previously, when we set up our project reports, if you recall, we looked at the equipment list, and even though we had hidden some of the columns, when we actually put the report out, all the information was sent to Excel, and not all the columns we had were used. So what we can do is actually filter these down, while we're actually doing the export to Excel. So what we're going to do, is we're going to come to, if you're working with P&ID, it would be under the P&ID drawing settings, or if you're working in Plant 3D, we'll be doing the export from the 3D database. So in this case, let's look at the export import settings for Plant 3D. So we're going to create a set of parameters, and we're going to choose the data that we want to see exported into our Excel spreadsheet. So to do that, we're going to create a new report, and for example, I'm going to, just going to call this one a pump list. Now I'm going to choose the parameters that I want here. So I'm going to come to our piping equipment, and you'll notice that these are all the parameters that are included with piping equipment. If I don't want those, I can just go specifically to equipment, and if I don't want that, I can just go specifically to the pump, and here's the list of items that we can export to Excel. So I'm going to go ahead and include that pump list, let me just make a quick modification here, and turn some of these off. Let's turn off the center of gravity, we don't want to know that, we're going to turn off the status, and we're going to turn off the XYZ position. And we don't need to have the content Iso, and we'll leave that, everything else exactly as is, let's see, we'll leave the part size off, let's get rid of the long description, and we'll keep the short description. So we're going to say okay, and we're going to apply. So now when we go to DataManager, when we look at our equipment list, or pump list, I'm going to run the export on that, and I'm going to send that off to our desktop, exercise files, chapter six, related files, and I'm going to do our 3D admin pump list, and just send it there. So now, in Windows let's navigate to our desktop, exercise files, chapter six, related files, and let's open that pump template that we just, or that pump report that we just created. So, if you notice, let's take a look at what we have available here. So these are the fields that I asked it to export, we got rid of all the information with the center of gravity, we got rid of all the information with the, location, and you'll see here, what I've also got is, the description is now just down to the short description. We don't have any long description information in there either. So that's going to give us the ability to customize how our data is exported to Excel.
