Viewport basics

- Now that we have our layout set, and we have our design here in model space, we're ready to create some viewports. I'm going to go up to the view menu, find view ports, and select one viewport. And I'm going to draw my viewport right around here. I'll double click inside my viewport to activate it. And now we can pan and zoom around our viewport to set our scale. I want to get my view pretty much centered right here on my collar on the top view. Once I've got it pretty close to being set, I'll double click outside, select the viewport, and then I can look down here in the status bar to check the scale. Right now this is set at .84, which is definitely not a standard scale. So, I'm going to click on it and then I'm going to choose 1:1. And we can see that it's actually enlarged this to scale it perfectly for me. Now, the viewport is to scale and if we add any dimensions in paper space they will automatically scale to the viewport provided, as long as we use our object snaps so the…
