- [Instructor] Let's actually start drawing some real objects in AutoCAD. As we begin to draw, take note of the state of my status bar down in the lower right corner of your screen and make sure that yours matches mine. I currently have everything turned off except for the grid display found here and dynamic input turned on here. To start, I'm going to go up to the tool pallet and make sure I'm on the drafting tool set. Click on the line tool found here and then I can click out here in space. AutoCAD is asking me where it is I want to start my line. I'm just going to click and now AutoCAD wants me to know where my next point will be. I'm going to click here and then continue to drag my cursor around. AutoCAD stays in the line command and asks for another point and will continue to do so until I hit either return, escape, or the space bar on my keyboard.
