- [Instructor] Occasionally, we need to copy or trace information that we cannot get in CAD form. These might be topography maps, component panel layouts, or even old hand-drafted plans. Fortunately, AutoCAD for Mac allows us to insert a number of file types as underlays so that we can trace them. AutoCAD for Mac supports many image file types, including JPG, TIFF, and PNG files. To start, I'm going to go up to the Insert menu, here, and go to Raster Image Reference. From here, I'm going to go find my image underlay in the exercise files and click Open. Now just like an external reference, I have to specify things like the insertion point, the scale, as well as the path. Remember this is an externally referenced file, just like we were doing with DWG files earlier. That means that AutoCAD is displaying this file for me in my current drawing, but it's not actually inserting and keeping it in my drawing. It's just referencing…
