- [Instructor] Obviously, if you're just starting out, while you need to create some new drawings before you can open them, I think you'll find that most drafters tend to copy and duplicate files and then modify them to their needs rather than starting completely from scratch. However, you need to start from somewhere, and if you set up your drawing with all the appropriate information, you can save a file as a template to start from in the future with everything just how you want it. To start a new file, we can either type in new down on the command line, or we can go up to file and new drawing. This opens up the main template directory. You can choose which template you want to start with, and the one you should choose is really dependent on what it is you're trying to accomplish with the drawing.
