Stretch

The stretch command is a slightly more finicky tool, only in that how you select your objects is the most important part of the command. Once we're more comfortable with how we're selecting our objects, stretch can be a very useful tool. Here I have a table in two views, a front view and a bottom view. I need to lengthen this table. So we're going to use the stretch command to do that. I'm going to show you this once, and then explain why I'm selecting the objects exactly where I am selecting them. I'll get the tool here. And down at the command prompt, we can see that stretch can only be used with a crossing window. So, I'm going to click a point here, and my second point, right about here. I'm going to press return. Pick a base point, and then start to drag my cursor. Note that the rectangles representing the table legs, and the vertical line representing the edge of the table, are being moved, and they're not being distorted. However, the two horizontal lines are being distorted…
