- [Instructor] It is possible to have too much extra data in your AutoCAD drawings. After drafting for a while your DWG file can accumulate a lot of, well, stuff, blocks that are no longer needed, text and dimension styles that you don't intend to use on a particular project, or mistakes and glitches like lines that have no length or empty text objects. To help clean our DWG file up, we can use a tool called Purge. To access the tool simply type P-U-R-G-E in the command line then press Return. Here, in the Purge dialog box we can see all the items that we could remove from our drawing including empty layers, blocks with no instances in the drawing, dimension and text styles not being used, and more. If there is a block or a layer that you thought you could remove but does not show up on the list, we can come over here to Non-Purgable Items, and view that list.
