Opening files

- [Announcer] Opening a file is fairly straightforward. Unlike anything else in AutoCAD for Mac, there are many ways of accomplishing it. I can go up to File and click Open, I can hold command + O as shown here, I can go down to open recent and I will see the last 15 recent files that were opened. I can also click on the icon here in the toolbar or I can type in open in the command line and then press return. All of these will take you to the same display. From here, I can choose which file types I'd like to display and then navigate to whatever folder my files are stored in. I can use any favorites that I've set in Mac OS's finder sidebar and I can change my view here. Using the icon view, gives me a small preview of each of the files. As a tip for power users most firms store drawing files in a project folder with other project information like spec documents, other drawings and photos of the site or other components. To quickly access a folder that the drawing is stored in, let's say open another drawing related to the project, you can right click on the drawing name here and then click Open File Location. This will open a Finder window in the same location as the DWG file. Lastly, you can use the help menu access clicking here with what's new and go to create. Using this welcome screen, you can access your last 15 open files with a nice preview and the date and time they were last opened. So like most things in AutoCAD for Mac, you can accomplish the same thing in many different ways. So it's just a matter of choosing the preferred method of opening your files.
