- While viewports are a neccessity…in today's drafting environment,…they can also be a bit of a headache…if not managed properly.…One of the biggest issues is the…ability to zoom and pan inside your viewport.…When establishing your view, you must…double click inside the viewport…to activate it, and then pan and zoom to find your view.…Then, double click outside the viewport and set the scale.…However, if I ever double click back inside my viewport,…it's all too easy to accidentally…pan or zoom and mess up my view.…
To prevent this from happening,…we need to lock the viewport.…To do this, we'll select the viewports,…go over to the Properties Inspector,…scroll down, and under Miscellaneous,…we find Display Locked.…I'll check this, and now the viewports…have been display locked.…I can double click inside of one…and pan and zoom all I need to and continue my work.…If we read the command prompt, we can see…that each time I pan or zoom, AutoCAD reads back…the message that the viewport is…view locked and switches to paper space.…
