- [Instructor] As I've mentioned in the past, the drawings base in AutoCAD is nearly infinite but it still needs to be measured and we can control the measurement system that we use as well as the format for entering in new measurements and information. Don't be confused though. This has nothing to do with metric or imperial millimeters or inches. AutoCAD considers all measurements in decimal form as just a unit. You decide what unit you want to use as you draw. If you draw a 10 unit line, it'll be 10 inches if that's what you intend as long as everything else in your drawing is drawn at the same unit of inches. Drawing units simply means what form do I want AutoCAD to recognize as I enter in my values. I'm going to go up to format and then down to units. Here, I can see that I have two different sections, one for length and one for angle. Decimal, seen here, means that all the values that I enter in or that AutoCAD reads…
