Command line overview

- [Instructor] The command line is a fairly unique feature amongst most modern applications. While some of us remember the days of DOS, where a computer command was typed into a black screen with a blinking cursor, the command line evokes the mindset of complete control of the application down to a programming level, even if that may not really be the case. In reality, the modern command line is a much simpler and is indeed a necessary tool for fully working with AutoCAD. By default, the command line or the command prompt displays just one line of text. If we put our cursor over the top and wait until we get the expand arrows, we can simply click and drag up to expose more lines of the command prompt. I typically recommend at least three lines total, one for the current or active command and two above that for previous commands or responses from AutoCAD.
