Basic 3D geometry - AutoCAD for Mac Tutorial
From the course: Learning AutoCAD for Mac 2020
Basic 3D geometry
- [Instructor] There are two general techniques for creating 3D geometry in AutoCAD for Mac. You can use basic 3D solids called solid primitives and then modify them by joining or subtracting them from each other, or you can create 2D geometry and then convert it to 3D geometry by extruding or revolving it or any of the other tools. I'm going to start with some basic 3D shapes, which we can find here under the modeling tab. I'm going to start with a box. This is drawn just like a rectangle, only we're giving it a third dimension. I'm going to go over to my view cube real quick and click the upper right corner just so we can kind of spin this around and I can see exactly what it is I'm working on. Underneath of the solids here, we also have the option for something like a cylinder. This is drawn just like a circle, so I'll give it the center point, give it a radius, and then again, I'm just giving it that third dimension.…
