- [Narrator] Linear dimensions will only give me the horizontal or vertical distance between two points. Occasionally, I need an align dimension of an angled face. I need to know the exact distance between two points. If I was trying to use a linear dimension between these two points here, it's only going to tell me the vertical or the horizontal distance between those two points and that is not what I want. I'm going to hit Escape and I'm going to come over here underneath of the Linear tool and find the Aligned tool here. I'm going to pick those same two points and here we can see I'm given the exact distance between those two points. Continuous and baseline dimensions work with aligned dimensions pretty much the same way that you would expect. However, aligned dimensions can be a little bit tricky if you're not careful.
