Absolute coordinate entry
- [Instructor] AutoCAD uses what is known as the Cartesian plane for geometric drafting environment. Thinking back to grade school geometry, you may remember the X and y axes of the Cartesian system. Essentially, coordinates for points are always given in an X comma Y format. X is always the horizontal axis and Y is always the vertical axis. Where the two axes meet or cross is called the origin point or zero comma zero. The axis to the right of the origin is positive as is the axis above the origin. The axis to the left and below is negative. Again, the coordinates are always given in an X comma Y format. Let's locate the points that we see on the screen. This point here is located at one comma one. Starting from the origin point, we go over one and up one. To locate this point here, we'll start at the origin and move over one, two, three units and then up one, two. So this would be three comma two. Lastly, for our point…
