Working with object snaps

- Object Snap allows you to precisely connect objects using the geometry itself as the guide. In this video, you will see several manual and automatic methods of using Object Snap. Open the Mechanical sample file from the Chapter 06 folder. We have a top view and a right view of this part. I'd like to draw the front view. To do that, I'm going to find it easiest if I snap to the existing geometry and project the lines over and down so that I can construct this front view. I'll start by drawing a line. The first point will be snapped to something up here on the top view. You can call for snap one at a time by holding down the shift key and right-clicking. This opens up the Object Snap menu. I'll choose Endpoint. Then as I bring the cursor closer to this geometry, you'll see that a green box will appear. This is the endpoint symbol, and if you hold the cursor still for a moment, you'll see a tool tip that reinforces that fact, endpoint. Many of these objects have endpoints, and so you…
