Saving your work

Saving your work
It's a safe bet that you will never create and complete a finished drawing in a single session. At some point, you'll need to save your work so you can return to it later. In this lesson, we'll learn how to save a drawing. First, I need to mention that I just launched AutoCAD about 15 minutes ago and started working on this drawing. Up to this point, I have not yet saved this file. We can see that by looking at the drawing name on the File tab also shown here at the top of the screen. It simply says drawing 1, meaning that so far this file has no name. Let's say that I'd like to save this drawing now, such that it can be emailed to a client. To save the file, I'll use the Save icon in the quick access toolbar. I can then select where I'd like to store the drawing. I'm going to put this in the Exercise Files folder, so I'll use the shortcut I made earlier. I will then open the ManagingDWG directory, and I'l call this file 05_SamplePart. Note that it will be saved as an AutoCAD 2013…
