Redefining blocks

In this video we will redefine a block and see how its definition propagates to all of the block references. Open the Architectural3 sample file in the Chapter 12 folder and take a look at this setup here. We have eight chairs. All referencing the same block definition. I'd like to redefine that and I can do that either by editing the block in place or by creating a new block with the same name. Let's do both. I'm going to double click on this and edit this in place. Now, let's make some type of a change to this block geometry. I'll select this back rest and stretch it up so it's not quite as curved. Now, close the Block Editor. And save the changes. All of the chairs that are referencing that definition automatically update. There's another way to do this, as I said, and that is to create a brand new block that has the same name. So, down here in the same space, but hidden away in this corner, I have another chair design. Let's zoom in there, and recreate this as the new dining…
