Offsetting and mirroring

Offset and mirror both create new objects from existing ones. You'll use both offset and mirror in this video. To begin open the Room sample file. Click the offset tool, here in the modify panel. Unlike most of the other modification tools, this one does not begin with a select objects prompt. Instead it says specify offset distance. We can type in a value or click two points to have AutoCad measure something for us. This first time around let's just click two arbitrary points that aren't too far apart. To specify some offset distance. Now the command prompt says. Select object to offset. Click on this line, and immediately you go to the next step. It says specify point on side to offset. Because the cursor is on the left of this line, it is giving me a preview image of the new object. If I move the cursor over here on the right side,. I get a different preview. So if I click here, that object will be created. I could click another object. Say, this line. And then either click above…
