Making dimension objects

In this video, we will add dimensions to this flow plan. Open the architectural sample file from the Chapter 10 folder. The first thing we need to do is to select the proper layer to put dimensions on. Open the layers drop down list here and select dimension. The first time you create a dimension it will automatically create an additional layer called deaf points that you don't want to draw on. This is something that happens automatically, and I'll cover more about layers in another video. For now, all we need to do is click the word dimension to make it the current layer. Now anything that we draw will appear on that layer. Let's go to the annotate tab of the ribbon and examine the dimensions panel. Here we have a flyout containing many useful dimensioning commands. Let's start with linear. Linear dimensions are either horizontal or vertical. Let's say we want to dimension the length of this particular wall. The prompt says specify first extension line origin.
