Locking viewports
- In this video, you will see how you can lock a viewport so that its scale is always protected. Open the Architectural3 sample file in the Chapter 15 folder, and double-click inside the plan to go into the viewport. Go ahead and zoom in on the table. You might be tempted to do this if you wanted to change something on the table. But, by doing so you've messed up the graphic scale on this sheet. It would be much better to go over to model space and make that change, and leave the viewport alone. However, you might forget this and inadvertently change the graphic scale. This can be particularly dangerous if you come in here, change something, and then zoom back out and say, "Okay, that looks about right." It's not right. The scale is incorrect. When this drawing is printed out, a person won't be able to hold up a physical scale to the drawing and measure it. The readings they get will be off. For this reason I recommend that you lock your viewport once you've configured it. Let me just…
